Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for visiting the web site of The Catholic High School of Baltimore – a school transforming and empowering young women through education. Throughout its seventy-plus year history, Catholic High has maintained a strong presence of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia and their mission of personhood in community, loving service, ongoing conversion, witness to justice, peace and reconciliation, and stewardship. This firm foundation allows The Catholic High School of Baltimore to steadily improve its physical plant and academic programs. However, the new dining hall, locker room, etc. are simply ‘icing on the cake.’ The real value of a Catholic High education is found in the academic programs that provide for students of every ability level.

From the Archangel Program for young women needing remediation in English and Mathematics to our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program, Catholic High serves the needs of every student in our care. Supporting student educational endeavors with wireless Internet, updated computer labs, integrated technology in classrooms, a state-of-the-art foreign language lab, our Distance Learning Center where students earn college credits through Neumann University at no additional tuition cost, and a wonderful faculty committed to life-long learning, is our way of implementing research-based instructional strategies.

Most importantly, your daughter’s high school has to ‘fit right.’ Our students often tell us they had a ‘feeling of belonging’ as soon as they walked through the doors on their shadow day. Belonging equates to safety and security for your daughters. With a student/teacher ratio of 12:1, it is easy to see why our students feel this way while growing in a challenging academic environment.

Young women today face a tremendous amount of peer pressure. Isn’t it a comfort to you – as a parent/guardian – to know your daughter is at Catholic High, enjoying the small class sizes, while becoming empowered, growing into a strong, self-assured woman with educational programs designed to provide the basis for college, post graduate work if she chooses, and life beyond academia.

As our Franciscan culture calls for us to respect and care for all of God’s creations, your student will learn social responsibility through service to others. She will join the ranks of over 12,000 women who proudly call Catholic High their Alma Mater.

As your principal, I know this to be true. But please know that you are welcome anytime to witness the rich tradition, the great achievement of our students, and the pride held so dear by all who share in the education of your daughter. I would be more than happy to give you a personal tour.
