The Catholic High School of Baltimore offers its students the following forms of tuition assistance. Tuition assistance is awarded according to parent payment plan and student attendance. Withdrawal of the student during a semester forfeits the remainder of tuition assistance.
Financial Aid forms for the 2009 - 2010 school year are now available in the Business Office. Current families must re-file for financial aid by December 15, 2009. New families must file before January 9, 2010. Parents may call the Business Office at 410.732.6200 ext. 226 to have a form mailed, students can request them from the Business Office to bring home, or parents can file online with FACTS at www.factstuitionaid.com (866.315.9262).
Scholarships
Catholic High offers applicants scholarship opportunities, which are renewable annually and awarded to qualified incoming ninth grade students who apply by the January application deadline. Applicants must submit the Scholarship Application for consideration. Students from non-Catholic schools must also submit a Scholarship Recommendation Form. Recipients who are awarded a scholarship are notified in their decision letters. Scholarship recipient files are reviewed annually to ensure that the students have maintained the required grade point average to renew their scholarship.
Applicants for the following scholarships must have excellent academic records, have outstanding standardized test scores, and maintain a 3.5 GPA while at Catholic High. Other criteria include student interviews and recommendations received from the applicant's current school.
Mother Generosa Award: Full tuition per year
This does not include fees or tuition increases once the student is enrolled at Catholic High.Math Olympiad Award: Full tuition per year
This scholarship is awarded to eighth grade students who place within the top three at the Math Olympiad Competition held in October each year. Eighth grade Math Olympiad winners must complete the scholarship application (including the essay) and complete the admissions requirements in order to receive the award.St. John Neumann Scholarship: $4,500 per year
President's Award: $3,000 per year
Mother Mary Francis Bachmann Scholarship: $2,000 per year
Principal's Award: $1,500 per year
Mission Award: $500/$1,000 per year
The applicant must be a capable student who has gone above and beyond in multiple aspects of her academic career and community service endeavors.
Alumnae Scholarship: $1,000 per year
The applicant must be the daughter or granddaughter of a Catholic High alumna and remain in good academic standing all four years. Families with a Catholic High legacy have first consideration.McCafferty Honors Scholarship: $1000 per year
The applicant must have an excellent academic record with an A/B average and maintain a 3.25 GPA. The recipient must be a highly capable student accepted into the McCafferty Honors Program of study.
Fine Arts Scholarship: $1,000 per year
The applicant must be skilled in one of the arts: band, choir, forensics (speech), or art and must maintain a 3.5 GPA in the Fine Arts and a 3.25 cumulative GPA. Auditions are required for Fine Arts Scholarships.
Fine Arts Scholarships Procedures
Auditions for all fine arts scholarships (Band, Vocal Music, Forensics and Art) will take place on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 and Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. If a student applies for a fine arts scholarship, please contact the individual teacher, via e-mail or telephone, to schedule an audition.
- Follow general application procedures, and complete the Scholarship Application.
- Be able to perform the following scales: Bb Concert, Eb Concert, F Concert, G Concert and a one octave chromatic scale beginning on concert Bb.
- Prepare the required music provided by the Catholic High Band. Please call 410.732.6200 ext. 315 to request a copy.
- Prepare one piece of your choice. This piece should showcase your technical ability and demonstrate musicality.
- Perform sight-reading if requested.

- Follow general application procedures, and complete the Scholarship Application.
- Perform sight-reading: tonal and rhythmic exercises.
- Prepare to sing a traditional hymn as well as a religious contemporary song. Traditional hymns include: Holy God We Praise Thy Name, Amazing Grace, and A Mighty Fortress is Our God. Religious contemporary songs include: Be Not Afraid, Here I Am Lord, and On Eagle’s Wings.
- Sing a song from a Broadway show upon instructor’s request.

- Follow general application procedures, and complete the Scholarship Application.
- Prepare and deliver an original three (3) minute speech before a panel of judges. This original oratory should be memorized, and the topic is “What is the most important lesson you have learned so far?”
- Choose and interpret an oral reading to be presented before a panel of judges. The reading may be in either prose or poetry and must be three (3) minutes in length. A script may be used.
