The Catholic High School of Baltimore is an independent college-preparatory high school for young women, sponsored by the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia. Since 1939 young women have benefited from the education they received at Catholic High.

Application Process

We're so excited that you're interested in Catholic High! To get started, read below.

  1. Schedule a Shadow Day: Use our on-line form, or call the Office of Enrollment to schedule a shadow day. We welcome students any day we are conducting classes-as-usual during September through December. Please fill out our Shadow Student Emergency Form here.  
  2. Apply Online- All students must apply on-line for admission to the school. Please note that there is a $50 non-refundable application fee. For best consideration for admission, submit your application by December 14, 2018.
  3. Complete Additional Forms- If you are applying as a public school student, you will need to submit the Records Release Form and the TCHS Referral Form.

  5. Attend our Fall Open House- Saturday, October 20, 2017 9:00 am-12:00 noon. Register online by clicking HERE.
  6. Take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) at Catholic High on December 1, 2018. This test is a required component of your admission packet. Click here to register!
  7. Consider our scholarships!
  8. Tuition Assistance Application: FACTS (Optional)- Catholic High offers a Tuition Guarantee: the tuition rate at the time a student enters school will be the same through her Senior year (fees may rise). We also offer tuition assistance, which is need-based and must be applied for each year. Families who wish to be considered for need-based financial aid must complete the FACTS Financial Assistance Application by December 14, 2018. Families may apply beginning in early November by visiting
  9. Decision Letters Mailed/Emailed- All students who have a completed application will receive a decision letter. Packets are mailed on February 20, 2019. Email notifications will be sent on February 21, 2019.
  10. Celebrate acceptances at our Welcome Soiree the evening of March 1.
  11. The registration deadline is March 8, 2018 to submit the enrollment contract, registration form and deposit.

Tuition & Fees

We are pleased to offer our families a Tuition Guarantee. You can budget for your daughter's high school tuition cost, knowing there will not be any increase in tuition through Senior year. This does not include annual fees, which are subject to change.

Tuition (fixed through Senior year):
Class of 2022 - $14,600
Class of 2021 - $14,600
Class of 2020 - $14,300
Class of 2019 - $14,300
Class of 2018 - $13,300

Fees for the 2018-2019 School Year - $1,100 (Note: Please reference the current school year's Student/Parent Device Agreement for additional costs associated with school-issued device accidental damages.)

Registration Fee: $150

Senior Fee: $250
(Includes retreat, transportation, Baccalaureate and graduation expenses.)

Archangel Fee: Extra $1,500 per year (Grades 9, 10)

Second Daughter Grant: Per additional child - $1,500

Legacy Daughter Grant: $1,500

Payment-in-Full Discount:
Payments-in-full received by June 1 will receive a 3% discount. Credit card payers or recipients of any other discounts, aid, grants, or scholarships will not be eligible for this discount.

Tuition Refund Plan:
Tuition Refund Plan available at 2.1% of tuition and all fees. Mandatory for 11-month payment plan. Optional, but encouraged, for full and semi-annual payment plans.

Merit-Based Scholarships

The Catholic High School of Baltimore offers a number of merit-based scholarships to qualified students entering the ninth grade. Students who qualify for the top merit-based scholarships will be contacted in January for a special interview. Scholarships are renewed annually, as long as the scholar maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Legacy Grant ($1,500 per year)- Beginning with the Class of 2020, this award is for all daughters and granddaughters of Catholic High alumnae.

Visual and Performing Arts Scholarships

There are also scholarships for the Arts (Visual Art, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Theater), and for Public Speaking. Students applying for a scholarship in Visual Art, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music and Theater must be an applicant to the McCafferty Visual and Performing Arts Program. To apply for any one of these, click here to complete the required application. These applications are due no later than December 14, 2018. There are interviews and auditions for each of these, and a representative from the Office of Enrollment will contact each applicant to schedule her interview time in mid January.

External Scholarships

The Knott Scholarship Funds

The Knott Scholarship Funds award four-year, full-tuition scholarships to attend a Catholic parish elementary school, Catholic high school or Catholic college in Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Harford, or Howard counties. These scholarships are awarded to Catholic students who excel in academics.

To apply, the student MUST meet ALL of the criteria as listed on the Knott web site.

The Knott Scholarship Funds

Caroline D. Bradley Scholarship

Awarded through the Institute for Educational Advancement, the Caroline D. Bradley Scholarship is awarded to exceptionally gifted middle school students who have demonstrated academic and personal excellence. The application process takes place when the student is in 7th grade.

Knights of Columbus Scholarships

The Maryland State Council of the Knights of Columbus is the sponsor of several high school scholarships for its members and for Catholic students in general. The application period is from November 1st to February 1st. All applications must be received by the scholarship committee no later than February 1st.

The Frederick M. Gossman Memorial High School Scholarship

Designed to assist sons and daughters of members of the Knights of Columbus in paying tuition at accredited Catholic high schools. Three grants of $1,500 per year for up to four years will be awarded. Awards are given on the basis of academic excellence, personal qualifications, and financial need.

The William J. O'Brien, Jr. Memorial Catholic High School Scholarship

Three grants of $1,500 per year for up to four years will be awarded. Open to Catholic students officially accepted at (or students at) accredited Catholic high schools in the jurisdiction of the Maryland State Knights of Columbus. Eligibility is open to Catholic students who are residents of the State of Maryland, and to children and grandchildren of a member of a Knights of Columbus council within Maryland. Applications are judged on academic excellence, personal qualifications, and financial need.

Colleen and Erin Marlatt Scholarship

This scholarship, awarded through the The Colleen & Erin Marlatt Scholarship Fund, is intended to recognize the significant sacrifices made by teachers and administrators who have accepted God's call to the ministry of Catholic education. To be eligible to apply, a student must be a dependent of a full-time teacher or administrator with 3 or more years in a Catholic elementary or high school within the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The student must be entering as a freshman at a Catholic high school.

Gary Lee Ryon Memorial Scholarship

Sponsored by the Gary Lee Ryon Jr. Memorial Foundation, Inc. Two $4,000 Scholarships will be awarded to 8th grade students entering a Catholic High School in the Archdiocese of Washington or Baltimore. The awards will be paid to his/her High School in four annual installments of $1,000 each. Students receiving an award are required to update the foundation annually on his/her high school progress and must attend their chosen Catholic high school for four (4) consecutive years, without interruption. Established to provide scholarships to students attending Catholic schools at all levels, as well as to provide grants to Catholic institutions and organizations which are helping those in need who require temporary financial assistance to support themselves and their families.
