Impressive Showing at Forensics State Championship

Mar 30, 2023

Congratulations to members of the Duns Scotus Forensics Team who had an impressive showing at the Baltimore Catholic Forensics League State Championship on March 25!

Seven members of the team qualified to compete at the Championship. Catholic High is pleased to announce that every member who competed medaled in an event!
Jillian Seay '23 - 4th place in Oral Interpretation of Literature
Grace Kamau '24 – 2nd place in Oral Interpretation of Literature &  4th place in Children’s Literature
Kaitlyn Medeiros '24 - 5th place in Duo Interpretation of Literature
Isabella Steinmetz '24 - 5th place in Duo Interpretation of Literature
Maia Te '25 - 5th place in Declamation
Sofia Schisler '25 – State Champion taking 1st place in Impromptu
Grace Howie '26 - 6th place in Children’s Literature

Based on their respective categories, Jillian, Grace K., Kaitlyn, Isabella, and Maia qualified to compete at the National Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky!

In addition to the individual awards, our team earned 3rd place in the Speech Sweepstakes for having the third highest point total for the Tournament! This achievement is especially notable as the 1st and 2nd place teams were considerably larger than our Catholic High team of seven.

We look forward to cheering on our Forensics Team on the National stage in Kentucky during Memorial Day Weekend!
